The International Management Code (ISM Code) addresses the responsibilities of the people who manage and operate vessels and provides an international standard for the safe management and operation of ships and for pollution prevention.
The ISM Code applies to all commercially registered yachts over 500 gross tonnes and above.
The ISM Code establishes safety objectives and requires a Safety Management System (SMS) to be implemented. When we assume responsibility for operating each vessel, we apply our well-established SMS and provide clear policies for achieving these objectives. We also provide all the necessary resources and shore-based support required by the yacht, Captain and his crew.
From 1 July 1998, the ISM Code became mandatory under the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). It applies to all commercially operated vessels of 500 gross tonnes and above, this includes commercial yachts.
In accordance with the ISM code, our Safety Management System (SMS) has been developed to ensure that all risks associated with on-board safety and the protection of the environment have been fully considered.
